An Autumn Day in Maleny

Much of Friday was spent driving up mountains, through forests, past orchards and within various rural communities to eventuate within the small village of Maleny. The small community, reminiscent of an Alaskan township, was covered in green vegetation and dotted with the Autumn reds and yellows of deciduous maples.
Along the main streets, one can find various boutiques, specialty gourmet food stores (such as cheese delicatessens and organic produce markets) as well as specialty wood and furniture stores filled with hand crafted home wares.

This particular Friday happened to be the annual Maleny Show Holiday which did mean that many businesses happened not to be operating...

Oxford Street

Yesterday afternoon was spent at on Oxford Street, among the aromatic coffee houses and delicatessens. The place is rife with good food, great coffee and is abundant with culture.
The Street did seem, however, the have an upmarket air to it with European cars lining both sides of the street, baby boomers strolling with their pedigrees and recognisable fashion names worn everywhere- though these idiosyncrasies seemed to fall just short of pretentious, with the odd hippy or bohemian joining the crowd.

There are restaurants from all over and the place seemed to come to life even more so after the sun had set. Though undoubtedly, the best part of the evening was people-watching whilst enjoying coffee and baklava as dusk beckoned a cloud-filled night.

Introductions

Today is all about appearances; layouts, fonts, colours - and now it's done.

Hopefully, this little bundle of words will be the first of many, if not for anyone else, for me alone to enjoy and to reflect upon.

I am yet to settle on a purpose for this little place that I have claimed as my own. For now it will stand as a means of sharing the many facets of the world - my own and those of others.

For now, Bon Appétit.
